Young People's Book Prize
In the autumn term of 2021, a group of children from Year 6 were chosen to be part of a judging panel for the Royal Society’s Young People’s Book Prize. Over a number of weeks, they read and reviewed a selection of six Science books, discussing the merits of each book. A copy of each of these books is now available to borrow from our school library.
As part of this project, children created their own video, reviewing each book in turn, in their own unique way! This video (as shown below) was entered into the Royal Society’s video competition. In March, we were invited to attend a virtual awards ceremony where the winning book, ‘I am a Book. I am a portal to the Universe’ was announced, together with the video competition winners. Whilst we did not win the video competition, we were really proud for a clip from our video to be used in the awards ceremony. The second video below is a recording of the awards ceremony, with Jack and Harry’s cameo appearing at approximately 9 minutes.
Well done to all the children involved - they showed great passion and enthusiasm for both books and Science!
