Since September 2014 all children from Foundation up to Year 2 are entitled to a meal free of charge, funded by the Government’s Universal Infant Free School Meal initiative.
The cost of a meal for children in KS2 is currently £2.50 per day. A handy calculator showing weekly and termly costs is available here. Free meals are provided to children upon confirmation of entitlement received from the Local Authority.
At present, we can only offer meals to those children who have them every day, apart from our Christmas lunch and theme days, when everyone is welcome to join us.
Our preferred method of payment for school meals is on-line, via the School Gateway, a safe and secure method of payment authenticated with Verified by Visa and Mastercard SecureCode.
New School Dinner Choice and Payment System
As you were previously notified, we will be moving to a new school dinner choice and payment system after Christmas.
All pupils who currently have a cooked school meal will need to book their meal for the week using the new booking system. The system will prompt you to pay at the time of booking. If your child is eligible for a Free School Meal, you still need to book their meals through this new system.
The aim of the new system is to reduce queuing time for the children as they will be lined up according to the meal they have already chosen, and to help reduce food waste. It will also allow you to discuss your child’s choices with them. Any pupil who is a vegetarian or has an allergy, will only be able to see the meal choices that are available to them. All meals come served with a choice of vegetable and potato/rice/pasta on the day, which the children will choose once they get to the counter.
The new booking system goes ‘live’ on Wednesday 27 December. You will need to access your Gateway account via the Schoolcomms App or login.schoolgateway.com, using the pin number allocated when registering and the email address provided to the school. Next, follow the instructions in the attached bookletto book your child’s meals for the full week ahead. Bookings for the week will close at 6am on Monday 1 January.
Mrs Judge and Mrs Hennon will be in school on Friday 29 December to check who has not yet booked a meal. They will also endeavour to answer any questions or queries you may have.
