Personal Development
As a Trust we pride ourselves on identifying and signposting our pupils to clubs, events and wider opportunities that they may want to explore that can enhance and develop their passions and expertise.
School plays a significant role in a child’s life and, as well as educating children with the academic knowledge they need, at East Borough, we plan our curriculum and enrichment activities so that we educate beyond this. Our Personal Development offer builds knowledge, attitudes, skills, relationships and behaviours that allow our pupils to thrive both in and outside of the classrom, with a clear focus on being an active participant in our diverse and inclusive community.
Our Personal Development curriculum encompasses our RE, PSHE and RSE offer. These are underpinned by our school core values. We have 6 themes that are taught each year and are built upon. These are: What makes me unique?; British Values and Citizenship; Being Safe; Being Healthy; Relationships and My Futures. We use the PSHE Association programme of study to guide our objectives but have tailored additional opportunities that reflect our context and community.
Please see our Year 1 - 6 Personal Development overview here.

To enhance our ethos we use assemblies to educate, reflect and consolidate whole school themes, initiatives and current/historical world events. Pupils are actively encouraged to lead and participate in these assemblies through our leadership programmes and oracy approach.
You can find information about some of these aspects on the drop-down menu on this tab, the School Clubs page and the News sections of the website.

Relationships and Sex Education
We are pleased to share our RSE Consultation and Workshop with Parents presentation, which can be accessed via the link below. This PowerPoint provides an overview of our Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) curriculum, outlines the changes coming into effect from September 2026, and includes examples of the resources used across different year groups. We encourage all parents and carers to review the information to gain a clear understanding of how RSE is delivered in our school. All RSE learning journeys are sent out to parents each year prior to the classes completing that topic.
