Community
At East Borough we strive to work alongside our school community and beyond. We foster positive, respectful relationships within and beyond our school community and celebrate the diversity that this brings.
We build our pupils knowledge of what characteristics a community has from the first moment they step into our school and explore how they as citizens can enhance and improve our local and national community.
At Valley Invicta Primary School at East Borough, we take pride in working with our local community. We hope the information below will tell you a little bit more about some of the projects we have been involved in.
Dandelion Time
Dandelion Time is a local charity who assist children with their emotional wellbeing and mental health. The charity run various fundraising schemes and a large number of children access this resource, at their site in East Farleigh. Within these sessions the children were able to discuss their emotions and mental health whilst carrying out tasks surrounded by animals. This was a real hit with lots of our children and we were lucky enough to even have 3 members of school staff trained by this Charity, this year. Thank you for this opportunity.
Food and Hygiene Bank
We are pleased to have our own Food and Hygiene product here at East Borough which we advertise to families in need. Our parents have been very kind in donating items which families in need can use when they need them. We are very lucky to have support from St Luke's Church, in partnership with Neighburly, that also provides many of our families with food parcels or hygiene products.
Remembrance Service
Every year, our children take part in a number of Remembrance day events, including assemblies, services and parades. Our Year 5 pupils lead on this assembly and always write thier own pertinent poems, decriptions or reflections on an element of Remembrance. This year, Year 5 focused on how different animals supported the war effort.
Magistrate Visit
We often invite a local Magistrate to visit Year 6, giving them a hands on experience of what might happen in a court room. In addition to this, pupils learn about different laws and how they can get support if they are in trouble or concerned about someone else.
St. Luke's Church
The church holds a carol service every year and is involved within other key Christian events and curriulum enrichments. The school works closely with Megan (the children's and families pastor) who is a regular visitor to the school!
Salvation Army
East Borough supports the Salvation Army every year as part of its' Harvest festival celebrations. Our Year 3 pupils lead this assembly, writing seasonal and harvest related poems and descriptions. Some of our School Council members then help to collect and transport the donations to the headquarters in Maidstone.
