Did you know that SET Tennis deliver lessons and clubs at East Borough? The children really enjoy these sessions, make good progress and we would definitely recommend the sessions to anyone who would like to give it a go!

Getting Ready for School (Year R Intake Sept 2026)

Welcome to our page dedicated to parents and pupils joining us in Reception Class, September 2026.

Valley Invicta Primary School at East Borough is a school with great tradition and values. We have a fantastic learning environment inside and out, dedicated staff and lovely children.

Starting school means your child will encounter a range of new activities and routines to get used to. Some of these will require them to do things more independently than they have before.

Studies show that the relationship between parents and children is the most important influence on a child’s development, and there’s plenty you can do at home to support this. While your child is with you or another caregiver, you can practise the skills shown in this booklet together.

Some skills may take time to develop, so it is helpful to introduce them gradually into their daily routine.

Our Getting Ready For School booklet is designed to help you and your child prepare for the start of their educational journey. It includes information about what your child should be able to do before they start school and words they should know and be able to use. You will receive a hard copy of this booklet with all your transition information, but you can also find it here.

At the bottom of this page you can find links to a series of videos we have made which reflect parts of the booklet, which you can watch with your child.
