Wheelchair basketball!
This week, children in Years 1–4 took part in an exciting introduction to wheelchair basketball with A1MultiSport. This was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to learn about disability sports and understand the importance of inclusion, equality, and respect for all athletes. Learning about disability sports helps children appreciate different abilities, challenges stereotypes, and promotes empathy.
The children had great fun learning how to move and control the wheelchair, which proved to be a challenge in itself! They quickly realised that playing basketball while also steering a chair requires a lot of coordination, strength, and skill. It gave everyone a new appreciation for the determination and talent of wheelchair athletes. Mrs Vincett also had a go, along with the children that attend our new Rise and Shine club.
Year 2 also enjoyed learning how to play floor volleyball. They worked on teamwork and communication while trying out this new and engaging sport.
It has been fun and inspiring, with lots of smiles, laughter, and new experiences for everyone involved!
